How can you become a South Hills Assembly member?
If you are a committed Christ-follower looking for a place to mature in your faith as you serve others, you are welcome here. My prayer is that, no matter where you are along your journey, you will feel right at home here at South Hills Assembly. A good place to start is attending First Base in Grand Slam Christians. . .

Grand Slam Christians . . .

. . . is a series of 5 classes taught by the pastors at South Hills Assembly. Using baseball as the organizational metaphor, this series exists to help you mature as a Christian. Grand Slam Christians is a pathway of growth for every believer. Bases 1-3 on the baseball diamond represent the first 3 training sessions, with Home Plate and Pitcher's Mound completing the series. South Hills Assembly offers this series to fulfill its vision of loving God and making His love known.
Grand Slam Christians will give you a sense of belonging at South Hills
Assembly, and provide you with a fresh perspective on the process of
Christian maturity. Along the way you'll be challenged & equipped to achieve your God-given roles. These classes support the five 40 Days' Purposes of Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, Evangelism and Worship.

FIRST BASE: FELLOWSHIP
First Base is an introduction to the workings of this Assembly taught by Senior Pastor Jack Stepp. First Base is the only class required for membership. The emphasis is on experiencing God through the SHA Fellowship. You'll get an overview of this assembly's faith, purposes, organization, strategies and vision. You'll discover the benefits of fellowship at South Hills Assembly. "We will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is Christ, from Him the whole body, joined together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work*until we all reach unity in the faith and the knowledge of the Son ofGod and become mature."
Ephesians 4:15b-16, 13
  SECOND BASE: DISCIPLESHIP
Second Base deals with Discipleship, and will help you learn how to establish habits that promote your growth in God's grace so you can receive all that He has for you and mature as a Christian. Discover the importance of knowledge, perspective, conviction, skills and character in your life. "If you know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good and advantageous things to those who ask Him." Matthew 7:11
  THIRD BASE: MINISTRY
In Third Base you'll learn about your unique giftedness and discover your unique shape, how you are equipped for Ministry as a believer. Pastor Travis facilitates this process of self-discovery. In the New Testament, Christ calls us to fulfill numerous commands, 50 of which can only be accomplished by becoming involved in a local church. In this class you can find your place in the body of Christ at South Hills Assembly. "To equip God's people for works of service, so that the Body of Christ may be built up." Ephesians 4: 12-13a

HOME PLATE: EVANGELISM
At Home Plate, the 4th class of the series, you will acquire confidence to carry out the Great Commission, which is Christ's call to, "Go and make disciples of all nations." Matthew 28:19 Pastor Rick will encourage and equip you to share the love of Jesus with everyone you meet. The focus of this class is Evangelism. You'll learn to proclaim the Good News of Christ's forgiveness through genuine love, service and concern for the well being of others.

PITCHER'S MOUND: WORSHIP
The Grand Slam Christians series concludes with a trip to the Pitcher's Mound. Here you'll study Worship using Biblical examples of exalting God through music, song, clapping, the use of banners and dance and more. Worship leader Pastor Bernie will explain how it's done at SHA. "O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together." Psalm 34:3 Through praise and worship we connect with God. He inhabits the praises of His people. Let's get good at it!
Classes are held in the Multi Purpose Room and all but the 3rd begin at 4:00 pm and end at 8:30 pm. Pastor Travis' 3rd Base runs from 12:30-4:30 pm to accommodate his commitment to the Bridge, Young Adults ministry later in the evening. Praise & Worship is incorporated into each class so you won't feel you're missing Sunday night church. And you won't go hungry either since we provide a free supper! Infants and children through age 5 are welcome in our child-care facilities at 4:00 pm. Those children in the Children's Choirs can join their classes at 6:00 pm.
