Pastor Jack C. Stepp

Matthew 28:16-20

It's a Great Commission

Meet the Pastors

Volunteer Opportunities

Jesus' Mission Statement is: The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor – Luke 4:18.

Jesus' Vision Statement is “The Great Commission.” The vision of Jesus Christ was that His followers would carry out His mission to our world. Co-mission means “a together mission.”

Jesus prayed, As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world (John 17:18).

God is a Strategic Planner . Jesus is the world's greatest leader in this plan . He had the greatest vision. He had the greatest passion. He came to change the course of history. He was a top level leader that humbly but with a rigorous will, and personal discipline, did what was necessary to lead in the greatest strategic plan in the universe – to bring to Father God a forever family.

Strategic planning for South Hills Assembly:

-- Because without a vision the people perish.

-- Because we have this vision, this mandate, to reach every person who needs to experience God.

-- Resistance to good and Godly changes is the historical reason why churches lose relevancy.

His Great Commandment and His Great Commission together teach us “to love God and make His love known” – our vision statement at SHA.

Where does God want SHA to be 4 and 5 years from now?

How effective is every ministry?

What is our plan to grow?

Who is the champion of every ministry?

How can God's resources be best used?

Our goals are all God-centered on people:

Persons who are expressing true faith in Jesus Christ for the first time.

Persons who are receiving the Baptism with the Holy Spirit

Persons who are entering into volunteer ministry using their gifts to serve

Persons who are developing discipleship and relationships in small groups and classes

Persons who are faithfully attending the assembly each Sunday morning

Jesus said: This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit , showing yourselves to be my disciples (John 15:8, NIV).

Our style of ministry: We are a Holy Spirit-sensitive church that is not insensitive to where people are in their journey toward Christ. So there is a contemporary application of the changeless Gospel.

There are five attitudes about the Great Commission from our Scripture passage:

•  Verse 16 -- the attitude of being available .
•  Verse 17 – the attitude of worship.
•  Verse 17 -- the attitude of doubt. Jesus alleviated their doubts.
•  Verse 18 – the attitude of submission .

e) Verse 20 the attitude of assurance and capability.

The resurrected Christ is with us. He is with us now through the presence

and power of the Holy Spirit .
