Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat.
I. The fishermen with Jesus had seen storms, but this one was scary. A. There are different kinds of storms we face in life. 1. Storms involving our circumstances . Proverbs 1:27 says, Sometimes calamity strikes us like a storm. 2. Storms involving our relationships . Psalms says, I lie awake; I feel all alone, and my enemies are ganging up against me. I fell cursed (Ps 102:7-8) . 3. Storms involving our emotions . A proverb says, Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy? ( 27:4).
B. There are three things about these storms of life: 1. Storms in life are inevitable . 2. Storms are often unpredictable . 3. Storms are impartial .
C. The Christian lifestyle will eliminate many storms.
II. How do you make it through a storm? A. You remember How Truly Close God is to You . Isaiah 43:1-2 " Fear not , for I have redeemed you. I have called you by name, you are Mine . When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you!"
B. You relax in God's Hands Proverbs 1:33, First pay attention to me , and then relax. Now you can take it easy — you're in good hands.
C. You Know that God will see you through . Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).
The Bible teaches is that storms are temporary .
